The Wine Hill Journal is an independent English-language online magazine dedicated to the wines and wine industry of Central Europe.
We cover the fascinating region that stretches from the foothills of the Alps through the Pannonian Plain to the Carpathians: Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Romania.
This is one of the world’s most exciting and diverse wine-making areas, yet it remains surprisingly little known to the international audience. We want to change that.
You will find three main content streams:
Wine Industry – in-depth articles about producers, new plantings, legislation, export trends, investments and everything that shapes the professional side of Central European wine.
Wine Marketing – practical insights, case studies and strategies on how wineries and regions can tell their stories more effectively to local and international audiences.
Magazine – lighter, lifestyle-oriented features: food & wine pairings, travel stories from lesser-known wine regions, seasonal recommendations and everything that makes wine enjoyable for enthusiastic consumers.
About the editor
The Wine Hill Journal is edited by Miklós Pásztor.
I am a qualified agronomist and horticulturist with several decades of hands-on experience in agriculture and food processing. Before focusing on wine journalism, I worked in production, storage and quality management.
My relationship with good wine is simple: it has been a lifelong friendship.
